Pictures!

finally in our house!!! I did add another post today but for some reason it doesn't show on the blog. hmmmm......probably a user error! *update* that post may show now...for some reason it didn't earlier so it wasn't a user error after all!!!

Anyway, all is well in the household. Kids are doing great...made some friends already on the street. We have some great neighbours beside us. Tom's job is going well. Not much to complain about....except maybe the heat. But....nah, I'm not going to complain!

Here are some pics I took today of the house. Please excuse our mess! There are some of the living room, dining room, kitchen, Bryan, Shae-Lynn and Thoren's room (we'll let you guess whose is whose!) and the family room. I'll post more as we clean and unpack more!

Hugs to everyone!

We're in!!

Finally we are in our house!!! Well, have been since last Friday when our furniture came! Since then we have been unpacking, cleaning up, unpacking, checking out the neighbourhood, unpacking, setting things up and did I mention unpacking?
The kids have already made a few friends here which is great! Shae-Lynn's school is all of a 3 minute walk away. Bryan will be starting middle school and his school is about a 15 minute walk. Apparently both are great schools.
The weather has been gorgeous from the day we arrived and there is no end in site! A little hotter than BC and a little more humid, but would rather have this than rain!!
Tom has started his new job and is settling in well. It's a good change! ....and his commute is only about 10 minutes!! ....and that is in rush hour traffic!! :-)
I'll post some pics of our place later. I just wanted to wait until our stuff was in and was some what put away!
Hugs to everyone!

..everybody loves....MARINELAND!

Yesterday we decided we should do a family outing before Tom starts work on Monday so we checked out Marineland. It was a lot of fun! We got there around 9:30 and left just after 4. Considering how long we were there, we didn't see or do everything. We saw the whale show, pet and fed deer, checked out the bears and went on rides. Oh yeah....and had lunch while listening to a lovely polka band....the urge to get up and polka was sooo strong...hard to fight it but we managed to hold off and not embarrass the kids!!
There is a great section of family rides, a lot that Thoren was able to go on. He went on boat, a roller coaster and some other ride (can't remember what it was called). he seemed to enjoy them however looked very serious the entire time! :-)
Shae-Lynn is our little dare-devil! She went on this 'hell-a-vator' type ride TWO times. Gave me a heart attack each time! They had an awesome roller coaster that is kind of in the a hill (hard to explain, you'd just have to see it!). It was a lot of fun....and hot!! We were all exhausted by the time we left.
Today we are anxiously waiting to hear from the moving company to see if they are able to deliver our furniture tonight or if we have to wait til tomorrow. So much for Tom being able to have a nice relaxing week at home before he starts his job!! oh well, c'est la vie!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Hugs!

Back in another stinkin' hotel!!!!

Can you believe it??!!!

Our furniture was supposed to be delivered here this morning and according to the moving company last week, they had both of our crates here. Today we find out that only one of our crates was here and the other is either in Winnipeg still or has just left the truck from Winnipeg. Our ETA is now this Thursday, however that has yet to be confirmed! Contents of the smaller crate was delivered today, so we can now change our clothes (not the kids though) and ride bikes. that's it. We're not too impressed right now, but what can you do?
To top it off, Tom has a very bad bout of the flu. We've all had a touch of it this week, but Shae-Lynn, so fingers crossed she doesn't get it.
Anyway, hopefully we'll have some pictures to post by the end of the week.
Aside from all of this, we really like Kitchener. Can't wait to do some more exploring!
Hope everyone is well! We'll post more soon!

hugs to everyone!

We made it!!!

Well, after days, 4600km, we have finally made it to Kitchener! We arrived yesterday around 4pm. We would have been in a bit earlier however, we ran into about 3 storms. I've never seen so much rain come down at one time!!
We got the keys to our house today and it is even better than it looks in the pictures! We love it!! We are very excited to get our stuff moved in there.
Unfortunately we don't have pics yet. Once our internet is hooked up at home (hopefully by Wednesday next week), we'll post pictures.

Hope everyone is well! Hugs to all! :-)

Last leg of the journey....

Well, this is it, our last night in a hotel!!
Had a real good day today. We left Thunder Bay this morning and headed to Manitouwadge to visit Tom's cousin David and his wife Belinda. We had a great visit and went for lunch. David is a paramedic and so him and his partner took the kids for a little spin around the block in the ambulance. They loved it. However, we're hoping that is the first and last time they ever need to ride in an ambulance!
From there we left for Sault Ste Marie. On the way we stopped in a little town called WhiteRiver which is where Winnie the Pooh was born! Took a few quick pics and away we went. We finally pulled into Sault Ste Marie close to 7pm.
I have to say, Ontario is beautiful. Most of our drive today was right along Lake Superior. There are points where you look out onto the water and that is all you see. It's like looking at the ocean. We have a few pictures to post but unfortunately we were not able to take that many as the camera battery died and we left our camera charger and other battery at the hotel in Thunder Bay. :-(
Hope everyone is well. We will post pics of our place sometime next week when we have our internet hooked up.

take care and hugs to everyone! :-)

2 timezones, 1000 lakes and 1 billion mosquitos

Here we are...
after only 3000 kms in 3 days we finally crossed into the last time zone to be able to say
we are now on eastern standard time. Today we went from central to EST, passed what seemed like 1000 lakes and successfully killed about 1 billion mosquitos. On one stop they decided to ambush us and began to suck the living daylights out of our veins. I bet this is what an animal feels like that fell into the Amazon river and got attacked by a school of piranhas. We took it personal and made sure to drive fast and swift, taking down every blood sucker in our path. Hope you like that, bloody insects.

We all are still in awe as to how beautiful Ontario is. I honestly have to say that BC doesn't have much on it, despite all the feedback we received prior to us leaving. The fact that there are trees here besides evergreen is a welcome change.

Tonight we are bunking in Thunder Bay. Don't really care for the city. It's quite industrial, but does have some real cute older houses and is right along Lake Superior.s

We also celebrated a special day today....Thoren's 2nd birthday! We went out for some real good pizza , ice cream and some good playtime in the McDonalds playground! :-)

Gotta go to bed now.....we'll be having an early morning tomorrow.

Hugs to everyone!

3 days down, 3 more to go

After passing about 5,698 trees and 67,597 cows, we have made it to Ontario! I have to say, Manitoba was quite dull in comparison to Saskatchewan. Can you believe that?!

This morning we left around 5am in the midst of a thunder and lightening storm. It was quite warm, raining and there was lightening all around us. It was pretty cool to watch! We rolled into Kenora this afternoon around 6 - 6:30 local time. Kenora is a beautiful town. Definitely a good vacation area.

Tomorrow is a shorter drive. It's just under 500km to Thunder Bay so we can sleep in a little longer! Tomorrow is also Thoren's 2nd birthday and we're trying to figure out what we can do....not sure yet.

Take care and hugs to everyone!

.....there's a turn in the road???!!!

Saskatchewan....what can I say? We saw a tree, a cow, sometimes a tree and a cow....a couple of tractors and I think a pond. Hard to believe this morning we were driving through the Rockies!

We left Golden this morning just after 5am and made it in to Moose Jaw around 6:16:45pm local time. The kids have all been pretty good considering all the time spent in the car. Of course we've heard the "this is boring", "how long have we been driving" and "I'm hungry". Lucky for them, they haven't asked "are we there yet?"!! Meike has been great too, although about a half hour before we got to the motel she decided to throw up in the car. All in all, we can't complain! :-)

Here are a couple of pics from the road today. I think Tom had been driving a little too long as you can see from his pic!

Hugs to everyone!
